Selling basics

How does selling my car on AutoHouseIQ work?

You enter your VIN, confirm the car we find, answer plain-language condition questions, and take eight guided photos. Verified dealers then bid against each other in a 24-hour auction. If you accept the winning offer, the dealer arranges collection — and at launch, payment is confirmed before handover. Listing is free and you're never obliged to accept.

What does it cost me to sell?

Nothing. Sellers never pay a fee on AutoHouseIQ. The winning dealer pays a marketplace fee when you accept their offer — that's how we make money.

Do I need an account to start?

You can draft a listing with just an email and mobile number — no ID, no payment details. Identity verification happens once, when you publish, and we explain exactly what's needed and why.

How long does listing take?

Most of the work is the condition questions and the guided photo shoot. Set aside about 20 minutes with the car in daylight.

What cars can I sell at launch?

The Dallas–Fort Worth pilot covers clean-title vehicles up to 15 years old, roughly $5,000–$75,000 in value, with at most one lender lien. If your car doesn't fit yet, we'll tell you straight away instead of wasting your time.

I still owe money on the car. Can I sell it?

Yes, if there's one lender. Tell us who the lender is during listing; we confirm the exact payoff with them before anything is final, and the payoff is settled as part of completion. Two or more liens, or a lease, aren't supported yet.

Auctions & offers

How does the auction work?

Your car runs a 24-hour open auction among verified dealers. Dealers bid with proxy bids — the system bids the minimum needed up to each dealer's maximum. Heavy bidding near the end extends the close by a few minutes so nobody wins by last-second sniping.

What is a reserve, and who sees it?

Your reserve is the minimum price you'd accept. Dealers see whether the reserve has been met — never the number itself.

What is a conditional bid?

Some dealers bid subject to confirming the car matches your declaration at collection. Conditional bids are always labelled so you know exactly what you're accepting.

Do I have to accept the winning bid?

No. If your reserve isn't met — or you simply change your mind before accepting — you can walk away free. You can also relist once with adjusted expectations.

What happens the moment I accept?

The deal is locked: price, terms, your declarations, and both signatures are recorded. At launch, the dealer's introduction fee is charged, and only then do they receive your contact details and address to arrange collection. (This fee-and-release step is being finalised ahead of the first live sale.)

Privacy & trust

Who sees my address?

Nobody, until you accept an offer. Bidding dealers see an approximate area — like "Near Fort Worth" — and a rough distance. Your exact address is only released to the winning dealer after you accept — and at launch, once their introduction fee is paid.

Is my listing public?

No. Your car is shown only to verified dealers on the platform. It never appears on a public site, and your name and contact details are masked until you accept.

How are dealers verified?

Every dealer passes license, business, and identity verification — reviewed by a person — before they can bid. Dealers also build a track record on the platform: completion rate, collection punctuality, and how they behave at collection all count.

What does the AI actually do?

It recognises your VIN, checks photo quality as you shoot, and structures your condition answers into a record dealers can trust. It's always labelled, expresses confidence rather than verdicts, and never claims a mechanical diagnosis.

Collection, payment & title

How does collection work?

The winning dealer schedules a pickup window with you. At collection they verify the car against your declaration using a structured checklist — it's a verification, not a renegotiation.

Can the dealer lower the price at my driveway?

Not for anything you declared. If something genuinely wasn't declared, a published adjustment schedule applies — or you can walk away free. Dealers who attempt unjustified renegotiation lose standing on the platform.

When do I get paid?

We never hold your money — the dealer pays you directly. At launch, that payment is confirmed before the car leaves your driveway; we verify it reached you before handover completes. (This confirmation step is being built ahead of the first live sale.)

Who handles the title transfer?

The process follows your state's rules step by step, guided by the platform. In Texas that's largely electronic. If there's a lien, the payoff to your lender is part of completion.

What if something goes wrong after I accept?

Open a dispute. A structured process reviews the evidence — your declarations, the photos dealers bid on, the collection checklist, and the locked deal record — and is decided by our team, with consequences that apply to whichever side broke the rules.

Can I cancel after accepting an offer?

Acceptance is a commitment, and the locked record holds both sides to it. If the deal fails through no fault of yours, you owe nothing — sellers never pay fees. Genuine problems are handled through the dispute process rather than silent cancellation.
