Selling basics

How does selling my car on AutoHouseIQ work?

You enter your VIN, confirm the car we find, answer plain-language condition questions, and take a guided set of photos. Dealers approved by our team then bid against each other in a 23-hour auction. If you accept the winning offer, the buying dealer will be able to choose a pre-transport inspection (planned), any price change needs your agreement, and collection and payment then follow the confirmed payment arrangements. Listing is free and you're never obliged to accept.

What does it cost me to sell?

Nothing. Sellers never pay a fee on AutoHouseIQ. The winning dealer pays a marketplace fee when you accept their offer β€” that's how we make money.

Do I need an account to start?

You can draft a listing with just an email β€” no ID and no payment details. We confirm your email with a one-time code. Before your car goes to dealers you complete a quick live vehicle check on your phone, and our team reviews the listing. You can also verify your identity from your dashboard with a photo ID and your title document, reviewed by our team.

How long does listing take?

Most of the work is the condition questions and the guided photo shoot. Set aside about 20 minutes with the car in daylight.

What cars can I sell at launch?

We cover clean-title vehicles up to 15 years old, roughly $5,000–$75,000 in value, with at most one lender lien, anywhere in the United States. If your car doesn't fit yet, we'll tell you straight away instead of wasting your time.

I still owe money on the car. Can I sell it?

Yes, if there's one lender. Tell us who the lender is during listing; we confirm the exact payoff with them before anything is final, and the payoff is settled as part of completion. Two or more liens, or a lease, aren't supported yet.

Auctions & offers

How does the auction work?

Your car runs a 23-hour open auction among dealers approved by our team. Dealers bid with proxy bids β€” the system bids the minimum needed up to each dealer's maximum. Heavy bidding near the end extends the close by a few minutes so nobody wins by last-second sniping.

What is a reserve, and who sees it?

Your reserve is the minimum price you'd accept. Dealers see whether the reserve has been met β€” never the number itself.

What is a conditional bid?

Some dealers bid subject to confirming the car matches your declaration at collection. Conditional bids are always labeled so you know exactly what you're accepting.

Do I have to accept the winning bid?

No. If your reserve isn't met β€” or you simply change your mind before accepting β€” you can walk away free. You can also relist once with adjusted expectations.

What happens the moment I accept?

The deal is locked: price, terms, your declarations, and both signatures are recorded. A transaction opens, and the dealer receives the contact details needed to arrange collection with you inside AutoHouseIQ, where everything stays recorded.

Privacy & trust

Who sees my address?

Nobody, until you accept an offer. Bidding dealers see an approximate area β€” like "Near Fort Worth" β€” and a rough distance. Your exact address is only released to the winning dealer after you accept.

Is my listing public?

No. Your car is shown only to dealers approved by our team on the platform. It never appears on a public site, and your name and contact details are masked until you accept.

How are dealers verified?

Every dealer is reviewed by a person before they can bid: their dealer license details and business, a named responsible person, and two-factor sign-in. Dealers also build a track record on the platform: completion rate, collection punctuality, and how they behave at collection all count.

What does the AI actually do?

It recognizes your VIN, checks photo quality as you shoot, and structures your condition answers into a record dealers can trust. It's always labeled, expresses confidence rather than verdicts, and never claims a mechanical diagnosis.

Collection, payment & title

Will the dealer inspect the car before it's moved?

The buying dealer will be able to choose an optional pre-transport inspection at your location, paid for by the dealer, with the report going to the dealer. Optional pre-transport inspection with Lemon Squad is planned. Pricing and booking availability will be confirmed before purchase.

Can the dealer lower the price after I accept?

Only with your agreement. After the report, the dealer can go ahead at the agreed price or propose a revised price. A dealer can never reduce your payment on their own β€” a revised price applies only if you agree. What happens if you don’t agree, including any cancellation and costs, will be set out in the final terms before transactions open.

When do I get paid?

Once the transaction requirements are satisfied, collection and payment proceed under the confirmed payment arrangements. We’re working towards payment processing through KeySavvy. Final payment arrangements will be confirmed before transactions open. We never hold your money ourselves.

Do I have to tell dealers about known problems?

Describe your vehicle accurately and disclose known issues. Our proposed terms will address responsibility for reasonable, documented costs caused by material misrepresentation, including transport where applicable. Final terms will be available before transactions open.

Who handles the title transfer?

The process follows your state's rules step by step, guided by the platform. In Texas that's largely electronic. If there's a lien, the payoff to your lender is part of completion.

What if something goes wrong after I accept?

Open a dispute. A structured process reviews the evidence β€” your declarations, the photos dealers bid on, the collection checklist, and the locked deal record β€” and is decided by our team, with consequences that apply to whichever side broke the rules.

Can I cancel after accepting an offer?

Acceptance is a commitment, and the locked record holds both sides to it. If the deal fails through no fault of yours, you owe nothing β€” sellers never pay fees. Genuine problems are handled through the dispute process rather than silent cancellation.
