A car sale is most people's largest transaction of the year. Everything on this page is a mechanism that exists in the product — not a badge, not a pledge.
The checks that happen today
Browsing and drafting need nothing but an email. We confirm a seller's email with a one-time code, identify the car from its VIN, and before an auction the seller completes a live vehicle check — photos taken on the spot to prompts we choose — and our team reviews the listing. Title and ownership are the seller's own declaration, shown to dealers; a seller can also upload a photo ID and their title document for our team to review by hand. Dealers are reviewed by a person before their first bid: their licence details and business, a named responsible person, two-factor sign-in, and the dealer agreements. Every document check is done by a person — there is no automated identity-document or selfie (liveness) check today.
Your location stays approximate
Dealers bidding on your car see an area — “Near Manchester” — and an approximate distance. Never your address, never your postcode, never a map pin. Your exact address is only ever released to the winning dealer after you accept.
Messaging that protects both sides
All pre-acceptance conversation happens on the platform, with your contact details masked. Attempts to move the deal off-platform are blocked politely and logged — the same rules for everyone.
Accepted means locked
When you accept an offer, the deal is recorded in full: price, terms, your declarations, the photos dealers bid on, signatures, timestamps. Both sides are held to exactly what was agreed.
Inspection before transport — and no price change without you
The buying dealer will be able to choose an optional pre-transport inspection at your location, with the report going to the dealer. Optional pre-transport inspection with Lemon Squad is planned. Pricing and booking availability will be confirmed before purchase. After the report, the dealer can go ahead at the agreed price or propose a revised price. A dealer can never reduce your payment on their own — a revised price applies only if you agree. What happens if you don’t agree, including any cancellation and costs, will be set out in the final terms before transactions open.
Money and ownership, in the right order
We never hold your funds ourselves. Once the transaction requirements are satisfied, collection and payment proceed under the confirmed payment arrangements. We’re working towards payment processing through KeySavvy. Final payment arrangements will be confirmed before transactions open. Any outstanding finance is settled with the lender, and DVLA is notified of the change of registered keeper.
Disputes decided by people
If something goes wrong, a structured process with evidence on both sides — declarations, photos, the collection checklist, the locked deal record — is decided by our team, with consequences that apply symmetrically.
